HOW WE HELP YOUR CHILD

We have built up a team of caring, experienced, partly pedagogically trained and diabetes-trained specialists. We select a suitable carer from our team to make your child’s everyday life at school, nursery or in training easier and to support them in their learning.

The accompanying person is guided by the teacher, the educator or the person providing the training. They support the child in all areas where they need help.

We not only help directly in the day-to-day running of the training centre, but also with events such as school trips, sporting events or (day) excursions.

SUPPORT FOR INCREASED REQUIREMENTS

We support children with pronounced behavioural disorders such as

  • Self-endangering behaviour
  • Behaviour that endangers others

We also help with pronounced care needs within the framework of basic care, insofar as the activities cannot be provided by treatment care, e.g. as follows:

  • Administration of special nutrition via PEG tube (abdominal wall or nasal tube)
  • Fitting complex support corsets and orthoses
  • Intervention in the event of swallowing (ingestion)
  • Administration of medication and other simple medical and nursing support
  • Observation and supervision of the child with seizure disorders that are associated with an increased risk of seizures during school hours
  • Administration of an emergency medication. Accompaniment during seizures, as long as the type and frequency do not require medical monitoring.

WE PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING SUPPORT IN THE AREA OF DIABETES ASSISTANCE:

  • Measurement of blood values
  • Supply of carbohydrates in case of hypoglycaemia
  • Supply of insulin in case of hyperglycaemia
  • Determination of the sugar value during meals, calculation of the carbohydrates, input of the values into the pump
  • Observe whether the child’s restlessness is recognisable, which may indicate hypoglycaemia
  • Measurement of blood values during play lessons or on day trips, if necessary supplying carbohydrates, changing the pump setting or removing the pump

WHAT WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DO

Our employees support the responsible teachers and are not authorised to teach or occupy the child in their care independently and alone.

When working in the next room, the material to be worked on is provided by the teacher and explained to the child. Our carers repeat the work processes and provide assistance.

They are also not allowed to supervise other children or even classes.
